Legal Action over a gift - Was a bad relationship?

I was in a relationship for five years and it ended poorly. He was very abusive towards me. I ended the relationship by packing up all my belongings and moving away. So of the the things that were packed were gifts that I or my family may have given to him. He is now threatening to sue me. I know this sounds like a Judge Judy episode.
